Wayne David MP was elected Member of Parliament for the Caerphilly constituency in June 2001. In October 2008 he was appointed as the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Wales Office. Between June 2007 and his appointment he was a Government Whip for the Department for Work and Pensions and the Wales Office. Before being elected to Westminster, Wayne worked for the Youth Service in Caerphilly and had special responsibility for supporting voluntary youth organisations like the YMCA. For 10 years he was a Member of the European Parliament for South Wales and was Leader of the Labour Group. He also played a key role in securing Objective 1 funding for West Wales and the Valleys.
