Emyr Owen has over ten years experience in community development and social care in Wales, and a similar amount of time in the social work profession. Emyr graduated from the University of Cambridge with degrees in Mathematics, Philosophy and Social Work. Emyr is currently taking a lead role in developing the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) in Wales and has a strong passion for social justice. He is a first language Welsh speaker who has spent most of his professional life working and being committed to social work practice in Wales.
A profession to be proud of
Social work and social workers are far too often misinterpreted and misunderstood. International Social Work Day is a time to appreciate the vital role the profession plays and to get past the negative media stereotypes
