Amy Kitcher is a local campaigner from Merthyr Tydfil and a rising star within the Liberal Democrats. She was elected to the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council on a significant swing in 2008 and in the 2010 General Election achieved the biggest swing to the Lib Dems of any candidate in Wales. She had previously contested the Blaenau Gwent by-election in 2006. Amy has been actively campaigning on issues such as town centre traffic congestion, cuts in local healthcare provision and crime and disorder. Her main political concerns include the environment, social justice and community regeneration. She studies at both Aston University and the University of Sussex.

Labour may have suffered collective amnesia, but the Lib Dems have all their faculties as they make the transition into government – and a government with a big and radical programme to deliver
