The Revd. Aled Edwards originates from Trawsfynydd in Gwynedd. He was educated at Ysgol y Moelwyn, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Saint David’s University College, Lampeter and at Trinity College, Bristol. Following his ordination in 1979, Aled served a number of parishes in north and south Wales. Formerly Cytûn: Churches Together in Wales' National Assembly Liaison Officer (1999-2006), he currently serves Cytûn as its Chief Executive. He is Chair of Displaced People in Action - one of Wales' most active asylum and refugee organisations – and is a member of the Wales Committee of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission having served as the Wales Commissioner for the UK Commission for Racial Equality (2006-07). He is a former member of Sir Emyr Jones Parry's All Wales Convention; and since August 2008 has been a member of the Gorsedd of Bards for his services to Wales. In June 2006 Aled was awarded an OBE for his charitable services in Wales and in March 2010 Aled was awarded the Welsh Assembly Government's Recognising Achievement Award for services to community relations in Wales.
