Step up to the spot…

World Cup Open Blog — By WalesHome on June 10, 2010 9:25 am

Fancy a crack?

FED up with Pringles adverts? Had enough of free souvenir guides? What about Wales’s very own World Cup tradition of complaining about pro-England supermarket merchandising?

In a little over 24 hours’ time, all this froth will rightly be consigned to the margins, and we’ll have some actual football to watch (even if it’s the nervy anti-climax that characterises most World Cup opening games).

Like all those big corporates with unrelated products to sell, WalesHome.org is determined to get in on the fun, but we’d like to throw the floor open to you, dear reader. We’re launching the WalesHome.org World Cup Open Blog, a platform for anyone who wants to write about the four week festival of footie in South Africa. Anything on the subject is welcome: match reports, gossip, those inevitable and inexplicable refereeing decisions. Is it England, or Anyone But England for you? Or maybe you couldn’t care less, and want to suggest the Welsh escapee’s guide to the World Cup? You might even have made your way to South Africa – if so we’d love to hear your views on the atmosphere and organisation. Drop us a line, and we’ll find a way of putting your words up.

The blog is open from tomorrow, and to submit all you need do is email Duncan, Daran or Adam. Then again, you could just sit there shouting at the telly, or continuing to marvel at the inanity of our paid sporting pundits…

Personally, I can’t wait for it to start! Just slightly gutted that other half is off to house in West Wales with bunch of English friends to watch the first weekend of the tournament (rest of them there for a week!) No girls allowed apparently. Definately supporting England. Will have to try to convince one year old to sit still long enough to watch the USA game with me!

World Cup? F*** off! Not on here as well! I’m off. Boycott will last until the wendyball is over!

Don’t worry, Tony. Normal business will continue in the main section(s) of the site.
