Independent analysis from and about Wales

The half century

Another bit of self indulgence here on WalesHome.orgLESS THAN a month ago on the Hearth, we celebrated David Melding becoming our fortieth writer on WalesHome.org. Tomorrow we are fifty as his boss Nick Bourne joins the ranks of our writers.

To mark this milestone we’re doing something a bit different tomorrow and for the first time ever we are publishing two columns on a single day. Don’t expect us to keep it up (we’ve all three got day jobs after all, even if one of us just works for an Assembly Member) but we thought we should do something a bit different to celebrate.

So Nick will be writing for us on the implications of the All Wales Convention report at 6am and later in the morning Welsh Lib Dem leader Kirsty Williams will be sharing her thoughts on the same topic.

That’s two party leaders on one day. We profiled Ieuan Wyn Jones back in September, so that just leaves Rhodri Morgan to write or be profiled by us. And who says we’re obsessed with the Labour Party?

Nick and Kirsty’s columns are fresh and engaging: and they’ve been written just for us. That’s two really good reasons to look at WalesHome.org tomorrow – as well as anything we put up on the Hearth or any articles you want to catch up on. Since Tuesday we’ve run the Convention report as a theme and we think we’ve added some real value to the debate – Adam on Tuesday urging Labour voters to unite behind a Yes campaign for tactical reasons; the Archbishop on Wednesday making the case for more powers; myself yesterday on the need to challenge the No campaign; and David today offering an insightful look at the issues around the setting of the referendum question.

It may have been the second themed week we’ve run in a row, but I think it’s been worth it.
