Round Wales round up
Labour leadership race — By Daran Hill on October 15, 2009 8:58 pmTHE CARBON footprint of the candidates for Welsh Labour leader is growing by the day as all three head around Wales looking for support.
Edwina Hart is following up the unveiling of her manifesto with a visit to Flint to launch her North Wales campaign tomorrow. Earlier this week, Flint Labour Party Branch gave it’s unanimous backing to the Health Minister’s bid to become leader, and Delyn AM Sandy Mewies is one of the Assembly Members supporting her. She also has the support of former Flintshire leader Alex Aldridge.
Carwyn Jones, who was in Flintshire last week as part of an extensive North Wales tour, is speaking to Labour members in Swansea tonight. And Huw Lewis, who scored success when he visited Clwyd West last night, has been in both the Rhondda and Arfon today (impressive mileage there), and he is gearing up for another busy day tomorrow when he makes a major speech on child poverty in Swansea. Mrs Hart’s home city is obviously a popular destination…
In other news, the Hart campaign received a boost this afternoon when the Community Union announced its backing. Unison, one of the biggest trade unions in the electoral college, is expected to make its position known in the near future, too.

“Over the next few days the big unions will decide which candidate they’re backing: Unison tomorrow, the even more massive Unite on Saturday.”
Betsan’s blog confirms some big things on the way:
