Go West

THE LABOUR leadership hopefuls were in west Wales this morning for the second of the official party hustings. It took place in the Bloomfield Centre in Narberth, Pembrokeshire.

As we reported when the first hustings took place in Rhyl on Tuesday, this is one of the five official party hustings for its new leader. The other other three regional hustings take place as follows:

18:45hrs for 19:00hrs – Monday 2nd November – Ringland Labour Club, Newport, NP19 9PS
18:45hrs for 19:00hrs – Monday 9th November – Swansea University, Swansea, SA2 8PP
18:45hrs for 19:00hrs – Thursday 12th November – Country Hall Cardiff, CF10 4UW

Wonder if the candidates were asked again about the timing of a referendum? Huw Lewis certainly read how we wrote it up yesterday.

Dave HagendykInteresting to see the take of Dave Hagendyk in this morning’s Western Mail. Dave is a former Policy Officer for Welsh Labour (can’t quite remember who did the job before him though) and was very on message for one camp when he said: “Huw Lewis has set the policy agenda almost from day one. He has shown he has a far broader appeal than many thought he would have. Whoever wins, his ideas and policies will be at the very heart of the next Welsh Labour manifesto.” Very much an endorsement of the “campaign of ideas” which team Lewis has been championing from the outset. If Mr Hagendyk was still the one authoring the manifestos for Welsh Labour, then his prediction would definitely come true…

  1. “can’t quite remember who did the job before him though”

Some nonentity. It’s the Hagendyk era that will be recalled fondly by future historians.

  2. A great reformist after years of drift.
