Edwina enters the race
Labour leadership race — By Duncan Higgitt on October 2, 2009 12:34 pmHEALTH Minister Edwina Hart has formally announced her intention to run for election as Labour leader in the Assembly.
Making the announcement on her leadership website, the Gower AM said: “Our party and our country need a strong voice, a strong voice for Wales, and I believe I am that voice.
“I have very clear political goals and ambitions, which are about creating a fairer and more equal society, but also about ensuring we have a prosperous economy where people have employment and jobs, and also to ensure that we protect and enhance our public services upon which we rely every day of our lives.
“We have to as a party re-engage with the electorate. We have to tell people: ‘Come home to Labour’ particularly come home to Labour in the years ahead and in the election of 2011, so that we can have a majority.
“I will be the voice for the whole of Wales, for all the people of Wales.”
Hart did not say how many AMs had given her their support.
