Cabinet Member backs Carwyn

NO, Jane Hutt hasn’t changed her mind. Foreign Secretary David Miliband MP has become a fan of Carwyn4Labour on facebook. And he’s not the only one to indicate an allegiance there. Vernon Coaker MP is also a fan, as is Chris Bryant MP. Only one of them has a vote though.

For the record, at the time of writing Carwyn4Labour has 212 fans; Edwina4Labour has 86; and the more imaginatively named Go for it Huw! has 142.

If you’ve got a spare 10 minutes, check out who else is supporting the candidates. Some campaigns look more like a cathedral than a broad church. Not sure if all the fans actually have a vote in any of the three sections of the electoral college…

    Yesterday, you guys reported Huw saying: “At his campaign launch this lunchtime, Huw Lewis took a carefully-worded swipe at the electoral arithmetic guessing and gossip that has dominated coverage of the Labour leadership campaign so far, saying “we have seen the tittle tattle of who is backing who, who said what to which trade union leader – but I can tell you now that this phoney war has no winners and it is about to end”.”

    Then, his “web guru”, Sam Knight, Twitters “46 mentions of ‘Huw Lewis’ on twitter in last day compared with 10 for ‘Edwina Hart’ and 0 for ‘Carwyn Jones’”, and you guys report “For the record, at the time of writing Carwyn4Labour has 212 fans; Edwina4Labour has 86; and the more imaginatively named Go for it Huw! has 142.”

    If spinning Twitter trends, and how many supporters each candidate has on Facebook isn’t the sort of “tittle tattle” that Huw was on about, then what is?!
